Prayer Makes
a Difference

“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” (James 5:16)

Many Christians often mistook that prayer is only for the eloquent or the few spiritually anointed members. They thought that the “righteous person” mentioned in James 5 means the super-spiritual or gifted in prayer. However, the Bible defines righteousness as one who has been made right with God through Christ. Therefore, all believers have the privilege and power to pray and can expect their prayers to be answered.

Prayer is powerful because God is powerful. Prayer is effective because God is faithful. We must never underestimate the impact of our prayers, knowing that God delights to work powerfully through us when we seek Him together.

James 5:16 also shows that our prayer is deeply connected to spiritual healing and community life. As a church, we are to learn to confess honestly to one another, pray and carry each other’s burdens through prayer. This means our prayer is not only personal, but also relational and church-centered. When we pray for one another, grace flows, wounds begin to heal, and faith as a church grows stronger.

Let us, therefore, in this season, learn to pray and trust our faithful God to move in ways beyond what we can imagine – that He hears, cares, and answers His children when they call to Him. Prayer does make a difference!
